The Rocks Restaurant in Marino will embark on their new era this week, with their first official day of opening being the day of love – Valentines day.

The Rocks Restaurant will be operated by Tam’s Kitchen, an Asian-Fusion Cuisine which has operated for the last 16 years out of a number of venues in Brighton.

The cafe announced via Facebook their opening night will be February 14, ready to celebrate all the lovers with a delicious three course meal. While that event is now fully booked the restaurant will be open again from Thursday for brunch, dinner or just a coffee and cake if that tickles your fancy more.

The iconic location was placed on the market last year after the previous co-op closed the doors on Marino Rocks Social in July.

Tam and his team have since been busy renovating the space to not only embrace the unobscured views on the coast line, but making sure the restaurant will be one locals will be proud to call home.

“We’re renovating to entire kitchen and we’re also doing a freshen up at the front of the house,” Andrea Matthews, function coordinator of the space said.

“Tam has an amazing asian side to his cooking but we will be focusing on a modern Australian seafood fusion which will be really fitting for that location.”

“We will have a space for the board-walkers at the end of the walk or somewhere new for locals enjoy.”

The menu features something for everyone, from salt and pepper squid or prawns to eye fillet steak and even the classic schnitty.

As for the Asian fusion dishes, Tam and the team will dishing up pad thai, stir fry and many other delicious dishes for you to try.

“We’re really mindful that the community want that fish and chip shop back,” Andrea said.

“The community aspect is what attracted us to that space and we really want to have that restaurant there that they love.

“That whole pocket is really under-utilised and we would also love to partner with the City of Marion to put Marino Rocks as a whole to get back on the map.”
