Illuminate Adelaide is set to return in a big way later this year bringing some fun and excitement to the sometimes dull cooler months.

And while you may have heard of all the amazing ticketed events that are planned over the month-long soiree, I’d like to introduce you to Illuminate’s newest, FREE pop-up attraction – Base Camp.

Located in the heart of the CBD, Base Camp will turn Victoria Square into Adelaide’s very own winter wonderland. And while the full Base Camp program is yet to be released, what we do know is that there will be something for everyone including, you guessed it, an ice-skating rink.

Brought to you by the team behind Gluttony and Lucky Dumpling Market the winter playground will be open both day and night throughout July with a great selection of food and drink stalls and the best part, entry is free!

Illuminate Adelaide took the city by storm with its inaugural event last year with its array of light and sound installations that wowed the crowds. This time around, some of the favourites from 2021 including the ever-popular Light Cycles will be returning as well as a host of new spectacles to engage your imagination.

The city-wide spectacle offers both free and ticketed shows from local, national and international artists and also features a number of pretty big international music shows on the bill.

The winter wonderland that is Base Camp will work as the hub if you will, serving as the perfect pre or post-show dinner and drinks spot but also a great spot just to chill! (Pardon the pun!) And with the July school holidays falling smack-bang in the middle of the festival, you can pencil this one in to fill a few days.

Base Camp will be located at Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga, Grote Street Adelaide 5000

Exact opening times are TBC but you can keep up to date by following their Facebook and Instagram or for the full Illuminate Adelaide program, visit their website.
