Do you fancy yourself as a fashion designer? Then listen up… Burnside Village is calling on design students, fashion illustrators and creative customers to enter The Fashion Illustrative.
Running now until 25th February 2016, The Fashion Illustrative is a unique initiative reaching out to young and emerging talent in South Australia.
The competition seeks entrants to submit a fashion illustration, either hand or digitally drawn, using a brand or retailer at Burnside Village as their inspiration. Founder of Burnside Village – Pat Cohen, says, “Burnside Village has a focus on connecting art with fashion by supporting talent within the local community.”
Cohen joins four other expert panelists including Merrin Stacey, TAFE SA Fashion Industry Lecturer who will select six finalists who will have their submission printed and displayed in the Fashion Mall, during the month of March.
“The winning entry will win a $1,000 Burnside Village Gift Card, as well as having their entry created into artwork for a special limited edition Burnside Village gift card,” says Cohen.
Burnside Village customers will also have the opportunity to vote for their favourite design throughout March. The design with the most customer votes wins the People’s Choice Award, receiving a $500 Burnside Village Gift Voucher.
TAFESA graduate, Petar Prodanovic, will act as an ambassador for The Fashion Illustrative, as well as one of the five judges. In 2015 Prodanovic was the recipient of the TAFESA Student of the Year Award for fashion design, bringing a wealth of fashion expertise to the initiative.
“When Burnside Village approached me about The Fashion Illustrative, I jumped at the opportunity, as I think the initiative is a great way to encourage and provide young, creative minds a platform to demonstrate their talent,” says Prodanovic.
Entries are open now and close 25th February, with entry forms available online at www.burnsidevillage.com.au.
