Imagination Becomes Home For Humphrey B Bear

Humphrey B Bear® has a new home and employer. SA-based, global entertainment company Imagination this week completed the acquisition of Humphrey B Bear® and other Banksia Productions assets from the liquidator for an undisclosed sum.

Shane Yeend, CEO Imagination said: “We welcome Humphrey® to his new Imagination family around the globe; Humphrey is a classic pre-school property and with some hard work and a little bit of magic forest dust, he will be entertaining children for many more years to come.”

Humphrey B Bear® was one of the longest running children’s television programmes in the world. The program was broadcast across Australia, Asia, North America and Latin America. Humphrey® won numerous awards including TV Week Logies for Best Children’s Series. He entertained the young and young at heart for more than 40 years, his image immortalized on countless toys and other products since the show was first broadcast on NWS 9 in Adelaide in 1965.

Yeend says: “The options going forward are endless for the much-loved bear, a new TV deal and/or broadcaster, a new TV series – live action and/or animated, DVD releases, downloads, a live tour, merchandise, fundraising partnerships, interactive apps, his own You Tube channel, even Humphrey® Fairy Floss? The possibilities are endless… Maybe a yellow skivvy and he could join the Wiggles? Our global team works with some of the biggest brands in the world including Disney, Fox, BBC etc and we see an obvious clear path to success”

Imagination is planning to hold a Humphrey® family reunion in Adelaide. It will include a workshop for all the people that have been involved in the past 40 plus years that feel they might have something to contribute going forward to the Australian icon.

“Humphrey® is also very keen to contribute to Imaginations philanthropy mission and the team at Imagination Ventures is excited to have Humphrey involved in future fundraising activities” Yeend says.
