NOW OPEN: Immerse yourself in Middle Eastern flavours at new Alminas Kitchen in Blair Athol

Alminas Kitchen has opened in Blair Athol serving up a combination of Turkish, Lebanese, and Middle Eastern flavours.

If you’re a food enthusiast or a lover of Middle Eastern cuisine, then Alminas Kitchen in Blair Athol is a place you simply cannot miss.

This delightful new restaurant offers a unique culinary experience that combines Turkish, Lebanese, and Middle Eastern flavours, setting it apart from any other eatery in Adelaide. With a rich family history and a passion for Lebanese culture, the team at Alminas Kitchen are dedicated to bringing the taste and warmth of traditional dishes, with their love for food and family culture, to the heart of South Australia.

Family-owned and located in Blair Athol, Alminas Kitchen is managed by Sam, who comes from a family with a 30-year legacy in the restaurant business.

‘My dad has been making desserts for almost 47 years, and these are still served in our restaurant today,’ says Sam. Alminas Kitchen, which started its journey in Prospect 7 years ago as a humble 15-seater cafe, has recently grown into a spacious 140-seater restaurant due to overwhelming demand and the need to keep things simple.

‘Between managing the cafe, factory, wholesale business and caring for my father, who was ill at the time, it all got a bit much, and so we decided to find a bigger place where everything could be made onsite and managed from the one location,’ says Sam. ‘Our mission at Alminas Kitchen is to promote and grow Lebanese food and culture in Adelaide, which seems to be lacking here in SA compared to cities like Melbourne and Sydney’.

With a menu that caters to all dietary preferences, including a wide range of vegan options, Alminas Kitchen ensures that everyone can enjoy the authentic flavours of the Middle East, whether it be at breakfast, lunch or dinner.

‘We’ve got everything from authentic dishes like baklava, kebabs and manakeesh to various platters, syrup cakes and desserts, all prepared with recipes passed down through generations’, says Sam. And if you can’t make a decision from all the delicious offerings on their menu, why not visit on a Saturday or Sunday and experience the open breakfast buffet? At just $26 for adults and $13 for children and with three hourly sittings that begin at 9:30 am, it’s a treat for both the eyes and taste buds.

At Alminas Kitchen, you’ll not only get a good feed, but you’ll feel like part of the family. ‘When you think back to some of your happiest memories with friends and family, a lot of them revolved around food’, says Sam, ‘and whilst, as a society, we may have lost a little of that “family tradition” where we got together weekly over a Sunday roast, we wanted to bring a little of that family culture back when you step into our restaurant,’ says Sam.

Sam and his team have not only created a friendly and inviting atmosphere and an expansive menu that, as Sam says, “may require a few extra notches on your belt”, but they genuinely care about your dining experience and take pride in the happiness that their food brings. ‘We love making food, love people enjoying our food, and really just love to see people happy,’ says Sam.

Alminas Kitchen is more than just a restaurant—it’s a celebration of Middle Eastern cuisine, family traditions, and a passion for good food. With a menu that’s filled with authentic dishes and flavours that are mouth-watering, soul-warming, and affordable, this hidden gem of a restaurant is a dedication to Lebanese culture and a must-visit for anyone looking to embark on a culinary adventure that brings a sense of family home cooking.

So, come with an empty stomach, embrace the warm hospitality, and allow Alminas Kitchen to take you on a journey through the vibrant world of Middle Eastern flavours and family—you won’t be disappointed.
