Impress Your Mates And Learn The Vino Lingo In This Wine Masterclass For Anyone

We like to think we know everything there is to know about wine… In reality, we just know that we like to drink it. Luckily, there’s a class that can teach us the (real) ins and outs.

If you’re anything like us, you like to think you know everything there is to know about wine. You sit there and swirl it around the glass, remarking on how astringent the tannins taste, not really knowing exactly whether this is the type of tasting where you spit the wine into a bucket or drink everything you can? We’re all guilty of that. But finally there’s a place you can go where you can learn the vino lingo… and coincidentally, it’s called Vino Lingo.

With chilled out classes in a relaxed environment, you’ll taste and learn with some great SA varietals and get tips on food matching and wine buying from the pros. Adam Jarvis, hospitality and retail liquor extraordinaire, saw a need for wine education that would be easy, accessible, engaging and most of all, fun. After much thought and research, and with the goal of inspiring people to take the first steps on their own personal wine journey, Vino Lingo was born. Without being pretentious or prescriptive, and recognising that everyone is different, Vino Lingo will teach you everything you need to know in an inclusive conversation – no deathly boring PowerPoint presentations here.

The class is basically ‘Wine 101’ for beginners, so come with as little or as much knowledge as you currently possess. The course is all about making wine as accessible as possible for the masses, taking all the seriousness out of it and injecting some fun. But it won’t just be all about having fun… you’ll actually learn something. You’ll learn the basics of how wine is grown and made, how to distinguish between the flavours and aromas of different varieties, tips on how to match food and wine, and most importantly, how to actually taste the wine. Never again will you be embarrassed in front of that one couple at the wine tour who seem to know everything about everything…

Vino Lingo classes are deliberately small, normally limited to 12 people maximum, and held over 2 hours. The full price for the course, which includes tastings of 10 quality SA varietals plus charcuterie and cheese platters, is $90. But, fortunately for all you wine-lovers out there, they’re offering an intro special of $80 until 1st July!

Okay, so by now you’re probably screaming, “Yes, this sounds amazing. This is everything I’ve been looking for in a wine class. Please, tell me where and when it is so I can save the date in my calendar.”

Don’t worry, lovelies, we won’t leave you high and dry. The classes will be held in the beautiful Tasting Room at the Prince Albert Hotel (Wright St, Adelaide) on Wednesdays (6:00 pm – 8:00 pm) and Saturdays (2:00 pm – 4:00 pm) starting on Wednesday 14th June. You can book on their website, or by calling 0424 297 736. So, what are you waiting for? Get down there and learn the ins and outs of our greatest passion – wine.
