In India, Diwali is one of the most significant festivals of the year. It’s a 5-day celebration that always includes good food and dining with your loved ones.
The festival, whose name comes from the Sanskrit word dipavali, meaning “row of lights”, serves as a beacon of brightness every year, celebrating the victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.
In 2021, Indii Flavours have decided we should celebrate all together and are hosting a Diwali Long Lunch on Sunday, November 7.
It’s a time to gather with friends and family and bask in the light of each other’s company, while preparing for a fruitful year ahead.
The team have been working on a bespoke 5 course degustation menu with paired beverages for all to enjoy – take a journey through India and discover a mix of traditional and modern Indian dishes. You will not leave hungry!
The lunch will include traditional and celebratory Indian dishes, including curries rices, and classic Diwali dishes.
There will be local and international wines paired with each course with bottles for sale on the day too.
The Diwali Long Lunch will be accompanied by live traditional entertainment with dance performers. There will be henna artists on the day as well to make it the ultimate celebration.
Operations manager Kshirod Behera said he hopes for people to feel like they’ve been welcomed into their Indian culture.
“I hope that they experience a really traditional and fun Indian Diwali with an Indian family,” he said.
“Diwali is known to bring good fortune for the year ahead and celebrates forgetting the bad things that happened. We are looking towards to the light of 2022.”
