Indulgent Wine Dinners Set To Tantalise Tastebuds

A highlight on Adelaide’s gastronomic calendar, the National Wine Centre’s sell-out Wine Dinners are on again this year.

dinnerA highlight on Adelaide’s gastronomic calendar, the National Wine Centre’s sell-out Wine Dinners are on again this year.

Three themed dinners will be held from July to September, with the Centre’s award-winning Executive Chef Tze Khaw preparing the four-course menus for each event.

The dishes will be expertly matched with wines from some of South Australia’s finest wineries from McLaren Vale, the Barossa Valley and the Adelaide Hills, extending guests knowledge and enhancing their palate.

Mr Khaw said the menus would be driven by exceptional local produce and a melting pot of flavours from Japanese and French influences to Moroccan and Italian flavours.

“For all of our dinners we partner with local producers, including Ashton Hill orchards, AMJ Produce for all of our niche vegetables and fruits, and Adelaide Hills smallgoods,” Mr Khaw said.

The first dinner on Friday, July 31, will feature Alpaca and Paroo Kangaroo from Fleurieu Prime Alpaca and Macro Meats matched with wines from McLaren Vale’s d’Arenberg Wines.

Boston Bay Pig Farms and Barossa Valley winery Charles Melton will be on board for a special Nose to Tail dinner on Wednesday, August 12.

The final dinner will be a decadent SA seafood and Adelaide Hills Sparkling Wine feast featuring The Lane Vineyard, Kersbrook Hill Wines and Deviation Road.

Kersbrook Hill Wines and Cider Managing Director Paul Clark said wineries jumped at the opportunity to be involved with the exclusive dinners.

“The credibility the Wine Centre brings to the event is invaluable. To be invited to show our wines at a wine dinner held by the Centre not only introduces us to people that may not have had our wines previously, it also enhances our credibility to be asked by such a prestigious organisation,” Mr Clark said.

“We see wine as a product associated with enjoyment and having a good time, so while we will explain how and why the wines are the way they are, we will endeavour to have some fun with it along the way.

Each dinner will also be held in a different space within the Hackney Rd Centre known for its striking architectural features.
