Inspired menus to satisfy any foodies’ appetite

The Store is proud to officially launch its all new Spring/Summer menu boasting an impressive range of dishes made from quality local produce, in the bistro’s signature French and Italian style cuisine.

Having recently undergone renovations, The Store has a fresh new look with a combination of booth and table seating and its famous alfresco areas, for those who want to soak up the sun and atmosphere of bustling Melbourne Street while they experience the delectable new menu.

With a choice of breakfast, lunch and dinner, The Store has a wide range of menu options to satisfy any appetite at any time of day.

Head Chef, Fabien Streit says there is a strong emphasis on fresh produce and seasonal ingredients to take patrons into summer with an exciting array of flavours to please any palate.

“My dishes are simple and authentic, and importantly, they are made from only the finest fresh local food, which is the basis of everything we at The Store,” Mr Streit says.

The lunch/dinner menu includes a delicious mix of entrees, salads, pasta, mains and sides with an impressive dessert menu and a cabinet full of sweet, French offerings including cookies and muffins for that mid-afternoon or late night snack.

Interesting dishes include the Beetroot, pumpkin and green lentil salad with toasted hazelnuts and salted ricotta, Handmade baked gnocchi with roasted cauliflower, gruyere cheese and walnuts, and the Duck leg confit with braised puy lentils, radicchio salad and orange vinaigrette.

“I want my food to be an experience, not just a meal, so I’ve taken simple ingredients such as barramundi and paired it with interesting and complementing flavour elements such as a saffron rouille, duck fat potatoes and green beans” says Fabien.

The breakfast menu consists of all the staples including the ‘One Hander’, a fried egg, bacon and melted cheese on a toasted muffin, eggs benedict, pancakes, and seasonal fruit salad.

Some interesting dishes include the Cinnamon Porridge with sultanas and almonds and Avocado on toast which is served with a soft ricotta and topped with mint and chilli.

The food is complemented by an outstanding wine list created by in-house Sommelier, Kennedy Simpson, previously of East End Cellars, who has a wealth of wine knowledge and a background not only as a winemaker at Mountadam Winery, but also as a chef.

“Coming to The Store is about more than coming for dinner, it encompasses the entire evening and wine selection plays a big part in the overall experience,” Mr Simpson says.

“I get a lot of pleasure out of assisting and educating our patrons in their wine selection,” he says.

The wine list at The Store features a number of South Australian wines such as Pewsey Vale ’Prima’ Riesling from Eden Valley, and Spinifex Esprit Mataro Grenache Shiraz Carignan Cinsault from the Barossa Valley, as well as a collection of wines from various wine producing regions in France.

“When creating the wine list, I wanted to make sure the wines available reflected the menu items that Fabien has created, and by incorporating a number of SA and French wines, not only are we able to showcase our wonderful local wines, but also allow people to enjoy some of the French varietals that compliment our dishes,” says Mr Simpson.

Pricing for breakfast ranges from $7-$18 with The Store Big Breakfast being the most expensive dish but also one of the most popular, along with Eggs Benedict.

Lunch and Dinner prices start from $12-$16 for an entree and $14-$26 for mains with desserts priced from $10-$18.

The Store is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner and full menus can be viewed on their website http://www.thestore.com.au/
