Internationally renowned designer, artist, and social inventor, David Engwicht, is headed to Adelaide to impart his creative touch on one of the many fabulous roads in North Adelaide.
Engwicht, of Creative Communities International, will be spearheading a week-long makeover of Melbourne Street, North Adelaide. The transformation, which has been encouraged by Lord Mayor Martin Haese, officially begins on November 9th and will run for 7 days.
“One of the beauties of the work that David and his team do is…encouraging people to take ownership of the spaces around them, contributing ideas…But it doesn’t have to cost a lot. David said the benefits of these project span the whole community and beyond, and people for all ages and abilities can play their own important role” – Lord Mayor Martin Haese.
The Lord Mayor has been following some of David’s work and is looking forward to working with him, Melbourne Street locals, visitors, and business to continue to revive Melbourne Street to the bustling creative hub it was in years past, while also adding a modern twist.
David states that this 7 day makeover model is ideal for bringing together a community and encouraging anyone and everyone to help. David believes that even a small budget, if supported by motivated and passionate locals, can create something wonderful.
