Interview: San Cisco Has Been Handpicked For This Weekend

We sat down with San Cisco ahead of their set at Handpicked Festival.

I had a chat with Josh Biondillo of San Cisco who was basking beachside over in sunny Western Australia. The Perth based indie pop band are set to play Handpicked Festival in the Adelaide Hills on November 11, with the likes of The Jezabels, Jet, and Matt Corby.

San Cisco played Groovin the Moo alongside Matt Corby a few years back and I asked whether there would be any collaboration on stage at Handpicked between the two acts. Biondillo responded with ‘Ah, no, we’re not that closely involved…’ but I’m still holding out for killer rendition of Cold Chisel’s Saturday Night, or even I Feel Like Dancing by Leo Sayer. One can only hope.

San Cisco toured Australia earlier in 2017 to promote their third studio album The Water and the band has only just returned to Australia after an international tour involving Mexico, UK, Europe and the US. I asked Biondillo what was the highlight of the trip. ‘Mexico was a great show, we always have a great response over there, they’re very accommodating…it was an incredible show’.

The band will be doing a bunch of shows over the festive season including Falls Festival and Beyond the Valley as well as working towards the band’s next release. Handpicked Festival on Saturday November 11 is the Adelaide fan’s best chance in this dwindling 2017 to catch the indie outfit so close to home.
