Introducing Henry Fisher, Encounter Bay’s gin & vodka distillery

Created by local distilling aficionado Lachlan Rochfort, Henry Fisher combines South Australian heritage with punchy, fresh flavours.

New distillery based in South Australia’s Encounter Bay, Henry Fisher, is infusing SA heritage in their curated lineup of vodkas and gins.

Created by distilling aficionado Lachlan Rochfort, Henry Fisher currently has three beverages available with hopes to expand in the future.

There is a classic Dry Gin, carefully distilled using juniper, coriander seed, cardamon, caraway, citrus and apples, a punchy shiraz gin, made with Geoff Hardy’s K1 Shiraz from McLaren Vale, and now, a new vodka.

The newest launch is a vodka that Rochfort describes as “sweeter than your average vodka and exceptionally smooth, making it ideal for shots and making a classic vodka soda and lime”.

While Henry Fisher is embracing contemporary trends in their distilling processes, the brand definitely has some historical roots.

“Henry Fisher is an old family name; My ancestor Sir James Hertle Fisher came out to Australia on the Buffalo and was instrumental in developing South Australian law,” shares Rochfort.

Before starting his new business, Rochfort had a rich history in the distilling world. Rochfort has produced award-winning beverages in his six years experience in commercial distilling.

Awards include Best Whisky of the World 2019 at the Lux World Masters for best whisky under 12 years, as well as receiving top honours at Tasting Australia for the best single malt whisky under 12 years multiple years in a row.

Rochsort shares with us that he has plans to launch a whiskey in the future, which we are sure will be a culmination of all his years of experience in whiskey.
