Introducing Tucker: the Volkswagen Beetle taking your camping experience to a whole new level.
Kombi Camping will be launching Tucker on January 12, 2022 providing a unique camping experience where adventure goers can set up for a night in the outback elevated above Tucker itself.
It’s Kombi Camping owner Cooper Pratt’s latest project as a part of his family-owned Volkswagen hire business.
“I restore Volkswagen’s and collect them,” Cooper said.
“We started off with Gilbert the Kombi; he’s been going for about one year now, then I was then doing up the Beatle for myself and thought why not hire it out too.”
“To fit in the whole camping experience, we’ve added the tent part to match this and did it retro style.”
Cooper said it’s common for 4-wheel drives to use the on-roof tent, but topping a Beetle is something very unique for people to enjoy.
“We had a new canvas made up to match the retro Beatle and the tent stays on the roof full time and it folds up into a little square,” Cooper said.
“All you do is pull the ladder over and then it’s good to go.”
If people are keen to have a ride with the Beetle but want to pass on the tent, Kombi Camping takes off the tent and puts a picnic basket on top of a roof rack. Travellers can go on glorious road trip picnics wherever Tucker takes them.
The Kombi Camping project before Tucker was Gilbert, the 1978 automatic Volkswagen Kombi. Gilbert is equipped with all the essentials for the perfect camping trip. It’s set up with a fridge, stove, sink and bed in the back that turns into a seat, with loads more features too.
Gilbert is the first of many Kombi’s that Cooper is yet to offer with two more Kombi’s set to join the clan over the next year.
Both Tucker and Gilbert are $220 to hire per day with a $30 cleaning fee. The Kombi and camping experience makes the perfect present for adventure-goers with gift vouchers available to purchase.
