Italian Restaurant Edo Cucina relocates to a brand new venue in the Barossa Valley

Italian restaurant Edo Cucina is bringing its Italian food to a brand new venue in the Barossa Valley with a huge kitchen full of delicious possibilities.

After a short stint at God’s Hill Wines, Italian restaurant Edo Cucina brings its delectable Roman influenced Italian food to a brand new venue in the Barossa Valley with a huge kitchen full of delicious possibilities.

Edo Cucina will enter a bold new era as a self-sufficient restaurant, while also serving up weddings, parties and functions at Lyndoch Hill, now known as The Lyndoch Motel. The restaurant is set to reopen between late August and mid September.

The restaurant’s owner and executive chef, Edoardo Strappa says he is “really excited to collaborate with the venue”. Strappa says The Lyndoch Motel have been open to letting Edo Cucina have “free reign and be its own restaurant” which the owner is absolutely thrilled about.

Rewinding six years, Strappa unveiled Clare’s remarkably authentic Italian eatery, Umbria. The restaurant’s inviting historic building meshed beautifully with amazing flavoursome dishes mastering the simplicity of Italian cuisine. After delivering a famous stretch of unbelievable dining, the Clare valley hung their collective heads when Umbria finished its run, the Strappa family returning to Italy.

It wasn’t long, however, before the family began to feel the pressures of tight local regulations and a restrictive environment for creative expression. The family were missing the spaciousness and the scenery of Adelaide life. So, when the opportunity called to return to South Australia’s relaxed outdoor lifestyle, the Strappa’s answered. Thus, the Barossa Valley became home to Edoardo Strappa’s newest taste endevour, Edo Cucina.

Now, the window has opened for Edo Cucina to operate on a larger scale with a much bigger kitchen and a brand new canvas for the next step in Strappa’s culinary journey. He says the new space means he can have a “large focus on homemade pasta, continue making pinsa (Roman-style hand pressed pizza dough) and have a much bigger menu”.

Edoardo Strappa is a proud family man and he told us all about how this new location was discovered.

Strappa says “I’ll never thank my son Gabriel Marley enough, as a few weeks ago he insisted to go on the bike trail from Lyndoch to Tanunda and by chance we ended up in Lyndoch Hill,  seeing something was going on there. I got in and introduced myself,  had a quick chat with the lovely ladies at the front office and left my contact details.”

Edoardo and Luana Strappa

Edoardo said “a few days later I was contacted from the new owners for a chat regarding offering my cooking to their guests,  when we met,  both me and my better half Luana , had a wonderful feeling (about working with) Bridget and John…

Very friendly,  professional yet humble people. So the idea of  a constructive collaboration didn’t take long to arrive.

In this new venue we have a huge kitchen,  so my deep love for fresh Pasta making can be satisfied again. The possibility of being closed on Sundays (besides functions and special events) is just a dream come true as it will give us the chance to spend more time with our kids and go camping often as we used to do.

We’re  truly exited indeed to open Edo Cucina at Lyndoch Hill.”

With the mains are finished let’s grab the dessert menu! Strappa says he “plans to do way more desserts including Italian classics like tiramisu and cannoli” while also offering some extra special innovative menu items.

Opening at a date TBC in the next month and a half, look out for Edo Cucina’s delectable extended menu at the brand new location of The Lyndoch Motel.
