The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters will welcome back the Santos Tour Down Under in 2014, after successfully winning its bid to host the official Stage 3 Start on The Parade, Norwood.
“The Council is absolutely thrilled to welcome back the Santos Tour Down Under in 2014 with the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters selected to host the Stage 3 Start on The Parade on 23 January 2014,” said City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters Mayor, Robert Bria.
“As the Home of Cycling in South Australia, Norwood is extremely well positioned to present this international sporting spectacular and the Council looks forward to showcasing Norwood and all that it has to offer,” he said.
Stage 3 will set off from The Parade, Norwood, adjacent the Norwood Town Hall, travelling 145 kilometres through Kersbrook, Williamstown and Mt Pleasant before finishing in Campbelltown.
The Council is in the process of determining the associated events and activities which it will hold to enhance the 2014 Santos Tour Down Under celebrations in Norwood and will encourage both the community and local businesses and organisations to be a part of the excitement.
‘The Council looks forward to the community’s participation in this exciting event and will be encouraging local traders and the local community to embrace the event and get involved in the activities that will be associated with the race,” said Mayor Bria.
