The wagyu beef burger, available everyday in the hotel’s outdoor terrace dining space, took out the winning spot in the AHA SA Best Pub Burger Challenge at Tasting Australia yesterday, in front of an expert judging panel and live audience.
More than 50 hotels from across the state entered the competition, and only 12 finalists made it to the blind tasting elimination round in Adelaide’s Town Square, at which point the Feather’s Hotel burger scored top marks for excellent flavour (with the addition of chimichurri) and presentation.
Prepared by Feather’s Hotel’s executive chef, Luke Brabin, the burger is made up of a wagyu beef patty, smoked bacon, cheddar, tomato, lettuce, mustard mayo, chimmi and crispy bits — and sounds like the burger from our dreams.
Burgers were judged on a variety of elements such as taste, presentation, value for money, meat content and quality of produce.
“This award win is testament to Luke’s exceptional culinary talents and his ability to prepare a range of quality food with amazing flavours that really pack a punch,” said Feathers Hotel Venue Manager, Andrew McDowell. “On behalf of the entire Feathers Hotel team we congratulate Luke on this excellent achievement.”
There you go! A taste of South Australia’s best pub burger awaits for you to enjoy on one of the prettiest outdoor dining terraces in Adelaide’s East.
