Wine lovers, The Homeless Grapes Project needs your help! Vinomofo is calling all of the wine enthusiasts, drinkers and sneaky tipple-ers to lend a hand and help out with the Homeless Grapes Project, Sunday, 10th March 2019.
This time around, Vinomofo, Kangarilla Road Winery and Corrina Wright of Oliver’s Taranga Vineyards are joining forces to make a beautiful McLaren Vale Shiraz with 100% of the proceeds (yes, every single cent) going towards
Adelaide’s Hutt Street Centre, a local support group for those experiencing homelessness.
Every part of the Homeless Grapes Project is donated, from the time taken by the winemakers to create the wine through to the supply of bottles and artwork for the final product, and this is a chance to get your hands dirty at the start (and most fun part) of the adventure; the grape picking.
Locals are being encouraged to grab a pair of secateurs and head down to Kangarilla Road Winery at 9am to get amongst the vines and pick grapes for a good cause.
The initiative originally launched in South Australia in 2015 and has since traveled to Victoria’s Yarra Valley and New South Wales’ Hunter Valley, but the team is looking forward to getting back to their Adelaide roots for the McLaren Vale pick.
Vinomofo’s CEO and co-founder, Justin Dry, says, “Last year our McLaren Vale shiraz made more than $59,000 for the Hutt Street Centre in Adelaide. That is truly life-changing stuff for hundreds of people who have been doing it really tough. Over the four years that we’ve been working on this project, we’ve donated more than $150,000 to local charities and we’re not planning to stop any time soon.”
If you’ve ever dreamt about being a winemaker, now’s the time. Bring your friends, bring your children, bring your mum – the Homeless Grapes Project is calling your name.
To secure a spot for the pick, wine-lovers can head to the Eventbrite website.
