Jam out at Umbrella Festival’s fifth SconeFest

Now in its fifth season, Umbrella Fest’s SconeFest is heading to Port Adelaide for a celebration of all things scones, jam and music.

In the wintertime, there’s nothing as delightful or comforting as a warm scone, accompanied with strawberry jam and clotted cream. Adelaideans tend to agree, as SconeFest – an Umbrella Festival event – sells out every. Single. Year.

Now celebrating its fifth year, SconeFest is stretching its legs at the Waterside Workers Hall in Port Adelaide.

Suitable for all ages, the event will involve local, live original music, enjoyed with SA Country Women’s Association (CWA) scones, Beerenberg jam, and Alexandrina Pure Jersey Cream.

The live music line-up includes Beatrice Coleman, Jennifer Trijo, Travis Collins, Mark Curtis and singer/songwriter and cabaret performer, Emma Knights, the creator of SconeFest.

“What a great five years we have had. Even through the pandemic, we managed an intimate version with lots of people grabbing the “Bake-At-Home” pack and watching from home,” shared Emma online.

“It is a beautiful community event that has sold out every year and I, the CWA members and the musicians would love your support!”

Kicking off on Sunday 31 July, adults will be able to enter for $20.40, while children can come along for $12.75. The ticket price covers the cost of the online booking fee, entry to the concert, as well as your first serve of scones.

Once inside, you can purchase as many cups of tea and scones as you like from the lovely CWA ladies, including gluten and lactose-free options if you let them know in advance.

This event is proudly supported by a City of Port Adelaide Enfield grant and is part of the Umbrella Festival. If you haven’t heard of the Umbrella Festival before, it’s one of South Australia’s largest festivals during the colder months.

The month-long festival aims to reinvigorate the SA live music sector and give local musicians the opportunity to take centre stage once more.

The event is entering its final weeks of the season, so be sure to check out the 2022 program for remaining gigs and tickets.
