Uniqlo, the Japanese fashion giant, is set to open its second store in Adelaide’s South, marking it Adelaide’s second store.

This new outlet, slated to open at Westfield Marion this autumn, follows the successful launch of Uniqlo’s inaugural Adelaide store at the Myer Centre in Rundle Mall in November 2022, where hundreds of eager customers queued up to experience the brand firsthand.

Founded in Yamaguchi, Japan in 1949 as a textiles manufacturer, Uniqlo has evolved into a global fashion icon, redefining clothing with its focus on quality and textiles.

The first UNIQLO store opened its doors in June 1984, and came to Australian shores in April 2014 with its first store in Melbourne. It expanded into Queensland the following year.

With over 1000 stores now worldwide, the addition of a new outlet in Marion reaffirms Uniqlo’s commitment to making its LifeWear collections accessible to a broader audience.

The brand stocks women’s, men’s and kids’ clothing and accessories, and in some stores offer same day alterations.

It’s viral Round Mini Shoulder Bag which is both practical and affordable, went viral on TikTok for being the “perfect” bag, with over 143.5m views for #uniqlobag. It’s helped usher in a real Gen Z demographic which love the brand’s basics.

The news of the new Adelaide store has been met with excitement on social media, with Uniqlo sharing a Facebook post on Thursday saying, “We are so excited to announce that UNIQLO is coming to @westfieldmarion this Autumn! Be sure to spread the word and tag your friends!! To be kept in the loop, follow us for more details and to check out our latest collections.”

With a sales floor area of over 1000 square metres, the UNIQLO Westfield Marion store will
become the largest UNIQLO store in Adelaide. It will be located at the Diagonal Road end of
the shopping centre.

“Thanks to exceptional customer support since the arrival of our first UNIQLO store in the city, we are delighted to announce our second store here this autumn. We are very grateful for the positive reception from all Adelaideans so far,” Fuminori Adachi, CEO of UNIQLO in Australia, said.

“At our Westfield Marion store, our team looks forward to making life more comfortable and convenient for local customers through our unique LifeWear range and customer service.”

Marion, home to several major national and international retailers, including department stores like David Jones, and other major retailers Kathmandu, Mecca, Glassons, lululemon, and more, presents an ideal location for Uniqlo to expand its footprint.

With the brand’s arrival, South Australians will no longer need to travel interstate to shop for Uniqlo’s signature lifewear pieces, bringing convenience and style closer to home.
