Jet and Baker Boy announced for free AFL Gather Live concert

Australian music sensations Jet and Baker Boy will perform at the free AFL Gather Live concert this April.

Get ready to rock and roll, Adelaide! The AFL has announced an electrifying addition to the Gather Round, as Australian music sensations Jet and Baker Boy take the stage for an unforgettable free concert outside Adelaide Oval on Sunday April 7.

Originally hailing from Dingley in Melbourne back in 2001, Jet quickly became known for their infectious energy and iconic hits. Selling more than 6.5 million albums globally and securing almost 10x Platinum certification in Australia and Platinum in the USA and UK for their 2003 debut album “Get Born”. Jet promises to deliver an epic performance that will have the crowd on their feet and singing along as they headline the weekend.

Lead singer of Jet, and die-hard Collingwood supporter Nic Cester said the band were excited to headline the AFL’s inaugural Gather Live concert.

“We’ve all grown up as footy fans and have always loved playing in Adelaide, so to headline the first Gather Live concert is something we are excited for,” Cester said.

“It’ll be great fun to play to the footy crowd… especially after the Pies versus Hawks blockbuster on Sunday afternoon. As a pies fan, I’m hoping to sing the theme song after the game in celebration!”

Joining Jet on stage is the immensely talented Baker Boy, a proud Yolngu man, artist, and 2019 Young Australian of the Year. Upon his debut in 2017 with the instant-classic “Cloud 9”, Baker Boy struck the Australian music industry with his unashamed optimism and love for music, dance and his connection to his culture.

Having performed at the 2021 Toyota AFL Grand Final in Perth, Essendon fan Baker Boy said he was looking forward to returning to the AFL stage to perform for fans.

“I’m pumped to be back performing at the AFL for the first Gather Live concert this April in Tarntanya (Adelaide). I can’t wait to hit the stage and maybe even catch a game or two,” Baker Boy said.

“I love the idea and energy of everyone coming together for one round, it’s going to be huge.”

The AFL Gather Live concert will kick off after the Round Four twilight match between Collingwood and Hawthorn, providing footy fans with the perfect way to cap off a day of thrilling on-field action. Located just outside Adelaide Oval, this free concert is open to all, offering a chance for everyone to come together and celebrate the spirit of footy.

“We are always looking for ways to make things bigger and better and are delighted to launch a new initiative with the free Gather Live concert this year,” AFL Executive General Manager Customer and Commercial Kylie Rogers said.

“Gather Live will give more fans the opportunity to get involved and soak up the electric atmosphere that Gather Round has to offer.

“The AFL is thrilled to have two amazing Aussie acts in Jet and Baker Boy perform at Gather Live and have no doubt they will get the party started and have fans on their feet for the final day of Gather Round in 2024.”

For Gather Round match-day ticket holders, early access to redeem free concert tickets via Ticketek begins at 12pm (local time) on Friday, March 1st. General public tickets will be available to redeem at 12pm (local time) on Monday, March 4th.
