For those looking for a tropical getaway, jet setting off to the Whitsundays is about to get a whole lot easier as Jetstar announce they will be the first airline to fly direct to and from Adelaide from the popular tourist location.
The new flight route will operate three times a week, starting from September, allowing you to dip your toes into the sand in less than three hours. Sign. Us. Up.
The new venture will open up 58,000 seats allowing not only South Aussies an opportunity to get there quicker, it also opens up the doors for those in Australia’s eastern states to fly over in the morning and find themselves sipping on award winning wine in the afternoon.
Adelaide Airport Managing Director, Brenton Cox, said it was exciting to attract yet another Jetstar
service offering flights to destinations across Australia as well as to Bali.
“This is our first ever direct flight to the Whitsundays and sixth direct Queensland service after
Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Cairns and Townsville,” Mr Cox said.
“Whitsunday Coast Airport is the perfect arrivals point for all of the wonderful activities available
across the Whitsundays and just a 30-minute drive from Airlie Beach.
“The Whitsundays is home to 74 tropical islands and known worldwide for its stunning beaches
and ideal yacht cruising as well as luxury accommodation. It’s a great spot for scuba diving and
snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef including the iconic Heart Reef.
“The airport is also conveniently located just over an hour’s drive from Mackay for passengers
travelling further afield.”
