Well-known comedian and social media hit, Jimmy Rees has announced he’ll be hitting the road with his first ever, live comedy show, kicking off in March next year.
The one-time ‘Giggle and Hoot’ actor will present his ‘Meanwhile in Australia LIVE’ tour, which is to be based on his viral social media videos that have proved popular throughout the pandemic and beyond.
The comedians “Meanwhile in Australia” videos have kept Australians entertained throughout lockdown, with his humour-filled takes on each state and territories response to covid.
The satirical short-clips show the actor poking fun at the politics surrounding the restrictions and laws brought in as a result of the pandemic and each locations situation in lockdown.
From fans being kicked out of the footy, to NSW being able to sing and dance again, borders re-opening and closing and lockdown boredom, the comedian has covered it all over the last year and half.
Jimmy Rees has spent the last decade becoming a household name in Australia, a favourite initially amongst kids and now adults around the country.
Following his retirement from popular ABC Kids TV show Giggle and Hoot in 2019, the father of three has since appeared on Dancing with the Stars and created his own video channel, with his “Meanwhile in Australia” series helping him reach an online audience of more than 9 million people a month.
This live stage show version of the series will see him revisiting his role-play of each state and territory negotiating lockdowns, borders and vaccinations, and is sure to bring the biggest laughs to audiences across the country.
Launching in Melbourne in March next year, he’ll head to Adelaide on Monday, 28th March 2022, taking front and centre of the Norwood Concert Hall.
