Join Adelaide Cemeteries in a killer guided night tour

South Australia’s spooky tellings and unsettling stories set to be revealed at the ‘Mavericks, Madness & Murders Most Foul!’ guided night tours.

Back in 2020 when Netflix shocked us with Joe Exotic’s unforgivable fashion sense and Carole Baskin’s unsettling smile in documentary Tiger King, true crime was every household’s hottest lockdown genre.

With nearing 200 years of history, West Terrace Cemetery is unsurprisingly the home to some of South Australia’s darkest and most fascinating stories.

For you true crime lovers and thrill-seekers, Adelaide Cemeteries are helping you discover South Australia’s very own true crime stories. Told with an entertaining night of lantern-lit ghost tellings and spooky guided walks at the West Terrace Cemetery on the second Friday of August, September and October in 2022.

The award-winning ‘Mavericks, Madness & Murders Most Foul!’ tours made their way to the South Australian Tourism Awards’ Hall of Fame and have been an exciting addition to Adelaide’s annual Fringe Festival, selling out earlier this year.

You’ll be given a lantern to hold, but it won’t be just any lantern. It’ll have special lighting that works with the audio, set to have the stories of the most interesting people of success, humour and tragedy told right at your fingertips.

It’s enticingly engaging and creepily captivating, but brace yourself for the dark secrets that come alive as you move from tombstone to tombstone.

Expect a fright from local performers as they bring the deceased to life with theatrical renditions of their personas, including short skits that help you to picture the political greats, heroes, lovers, and cold-blooded killers you’ll be learning about.

What better way to get involved with the state’s history than to immerse yourself in an interactive, entertaining but all the while, informative, experience.

Dress weather-appropriate and rug up! As it’s an outdoor walking tour, bring a comfy pair of shoes that are suitable for a range of surfaces.
