Iconic South Australian restaurant Jolleys Boathouse has reopened its doors with a new-look, new menu and newly appointed head chef, breathing life into the banks of the River Torrens.
The restaurant is now officially open for bookings, following a six-month closure for renovations. An extensive building upgrade and refreshed dining areas has produced a stunning transformation of this Adelaide treasure.
Leading chef Jack Ingram – former executive chef at Kangaroo Island’s luxury Southern Ocean Lodge and owner/chef of Penneshaw’s Sunset Food and Wine – has come on-board with a new modern Australian menu that showcases some of the state’s finest seasonal produce.
He is joined by new sous chef James Woods, previously of Regattas Bar and Kitchen, bringing together a wealth of culinary knowledge and experience.
Adelaide restaurateur and hospitality specialist Peter Morelli has also been appointed General Manager.
Mr Ingram said the new menu reflected Jolleys’ relaxed approach but at a refined level. “Expect an expansive menu that includes Coorong mulloway, Kangaroo Island lamb, ocean trout and angus striploin, all beautifully balanced with the freshest ingredients.”
Desserts include black pepper ice cream, rhubarb, white chocolate and coconut lamington, and a chocolate clafoutis.
“Our focus for the new menu is on high-quality fresh produce, maintaining the importance of keeping it simple but doing it properly,” he said.
“I am very proud to be on-board with the Jolleys team as head chef and working with our team of dedicated staff to create a range of exciting and memorable dishes for South Australians to enjoy.”
Mr Morelli said he was thrilled to welcome Adelaide diners back to Jolleys Boathouse. “Jolleys has been part of Adelaide’s history for more than 120 years,” he said. “We are delighted to celebrate the reopening of the restaurant with its first major renovation in 33 years, a talented new team of chefs and brand-new menu.’

Mr Morelli encouraged people to get their bookings in early, with the festive season approaching. Jolleys Boathouse was purchased by Barry and Susan Matthews in 1987 and officially opened in 1990 after extensive renovations. It has since been recognised as a much-loved dining establishment on Adelaide’s riverbank.
