Jon Stevens To Headline Carols By Candlelight

Former front man of legendary Australian bands, Noiseworks and INXS, Jon Stevens will headline this year’s Woolworths Carols by Candlelight event in Elder Park on Sunday 16th December.

A solo artist in high demand, Jon Stevens is one of Australia’s most versatile and formidable talents. His career spans more than twenty years including ARIA chart-topping success.

Sam Tolley, Carols by Candlelight Acting Chairman said; “It’s great to have Jon Stevens on board. He is one of the great vocalists of the Australasian rock industry and will bring his melodic and powerful voice to Elder Park for the 69th Carols by Candlelight”.

Woolworths has also been announced as the headline partner of this year’s Carols by Candlelight. South Australia’s largest retailer is already a major supporter of one of Carols by Candlelight’s main beneficiaries- the Women’s and Children’s Hospital Foundation – which Woolworths stores raise funds for statewide through the
Fresh Food Kids Hospital Appeal.

Mr Tolley added, “We’re proud to announce Woolworths as our headline partner for 2012. It’s fantastic to welcome a company with such a long heritage in Adelaide, and the state as a whole, to the Carols by Candlelight family.”

Woolworths South Australia State Manager, Malcolm Balkwill, said: “At Woolworths we’re all about making Christmas special so it’s an honour to be able to play such an active role in Carols by Candlelight, one of South Australia’s most loved festive family traditions.”

For the first time, Carols will start earlier at 3pm so families can make a day of it and enjoy musical entertainment all afternoon on the picturesque banks of the River Torrens.

The main concert will commence at 8pm followed by a Fireworks Spectacular.

Since 1944, this iconic event has proudly supported children’s charities to the tune of $1.5million and once again, all proceeds will assist the Cora Barclay Centre, Novita Children’s Services and Women’s & Children’s Hospital Foundation,

For almost seven decades, Carols by Candlelight has been a part of South Australians’ traditional Christmas, which has seen generations of people enjoying this wonderful event a week before Christmas. Woolworths Carols By Candlelight will be hosted by The Advertiser’s Rod Savage, Mix 102.3’s Sean Craig Murphy
and Channel 7’s Rosanna Mangiarelli.

Joining in on the Christmas spirit on the Carols stage with Jon Stevens will be Humphrey B Bear, The Fairies and many others.
