Adelaide’s tram line will be fully closed on Sunday, 11 May. Services will resume from the first tram on Monday, 12 May.
Don’t worry footy fans, the Sunday closure has been chosen to avoid affecting passengers travelling to the Showdown on Saturday and to ensure weekday commuters aren’t impacted.
However, Mother’s Day outings and the Mother’s Day Classic will impacted.
This closure marks the second of six full tram network shutdowns scheduled across weekends from May to August 2025. The closures are part of the Tram Grade Separation Projects aimed at improving the tram network.
To ensure minimal disruption, substitute buses will replace tram services across the network. The buses will stop as close as possible to each tram station, though Festival Plaza will not be included in the bus replacement route.
These weekend closures are essential for preparation work within the tram corridor, paving the way for the construction of tram overpasses at Marion Road, Cross Road, Morphett Road, and the reconstruction of the existing overpass at South Road. Work on these overpasses will commence in August.
The Department for Infrastructure and Transport apologises for any inconvenience caused and appreciates commuters’ patience during these vital works.
