JUST IN: Rock icons AC/DC rumoured to return to Australia in 2024

Rumour has it AC/DC are planning a national tour in Australia in 2024, in news that will excite fans of the iconic rock band.

In news that will excite metal fans around the country, a ‘well informed’ anonymous tip came through on the rumour mill on this mornings Triple M breakfast show, claiming the iconic Australian rock band AC/DC may be making a trip Down Under as part of a World Tour in 2024.

The anonymous tip claimed to have come directly from a reliable source in the music industry, and while there are no further details or confirmations at this point, there are several signs the band could very well be making their way Down Under next year.

The band recently made their return to the stage as the headline act at Power Trip Festival in Indio (the same site as Coachella) alongside Guns N’ Roses, Metallica and Iron maiden. The show on October 6th-8th was the bands first performance in seven years, and proved the rock legends still have it.

According to Melbourne’s Cherry Bar owner, James Young, the 24-song set list from Power Trip Festival is a fairly accurate sneak peek of what’s to come if the band make their way.

The set list, complete with famous hits ‘Back in Black’, ‘Highway to Hell’, ‘Thunderstruck’, ‘TNT’, and ‘You Shook Me All night Long’, also includes songs from the bands 2020 Power Up album.

In even better news, Brian Johnson has made a welcome return, with the singer unable to perform since 2016 due to hearing problems. During this time, Guns N Roses vocalist Axl Rose stepped in to belt out the bands best hits.

But now, thanks to audio technology, advancements and working closely with audio expert Stephen Ambrose – Brian is back and ready to rock and roll, squashing concerns the band would never tour together again.

The bands only original member – guitarist Angus Young – was joined by bassist Cliff Williams, rhythm guitarist Stevie Young and drummer Matt Laug, who has stepped in in place of Phil Rudd. Laug has plenty of experience with big names, having toured with Alanis Morrisette, Alice Cooper and Slash.

The return of AC/DC to Australia would be a welcome treat for 80’s metal music fans and would be sure to see many horns out, as this would be the first time AC/DC have toured Australia since 2016.

The rock stars last played to a pumped up crowd at Adelaide Oval on November 21st, as part of the ‘Rock or Bust’ NZ/Australian Tour.
