Sip Sip Hooray!
South’s Australia’s own Kangaroo Island Spirits won big at this year’s SIP awards.
On Friday 14 May in Newport Beach, California, Kangaroo Island-based distillery Kangaroo Island
Spirits was awarded a combination of Platinum, Double Gold, Gold and Consumer Choice Awards for
all five of their gins in the 2021 SIP Awards.
Kangaroo Island Spirits’ popular Wild Gin received both Platinum and Consumer Choice Awards while
O’Gin and Whisky Barrel Gin were awarded Double Gold and Consumer Choice Awards. Old Tom Gin and Mulberry Gin received Gold Awards, with Old Tom Gin also winning a Consumer Choice Award.
Managing Director of Mighty Craft Mark Haysman is thrilled with the result.
“These awards are a testament to the incredible dedication and craft of Kangaroo Island Spirits distilling team, currently headed up by Charlie Schmidt,” he says.
The year has started well for Kangaroo Island Spirits, with work underway on their brand-new distillery and
cellar door, which is due for competition in July 2021. The Kangaroo Island Spirits brand is also undergoing a complete refresh and will be launched later this year together with the expansion of their whiskey program.
