Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park has found a new home with better facilities, updated enclosures, and more room to play.

“The business has changed hands,” shared a spokesperson.

“Raptor Domain was always privately owned, but the original owners retired a couple of years ago and the people who owned the wildlife park bought Raptor Domain, so they’ve combined the two. Now it’s all on one property, it gets better traffic and is much easier for the owners.”

The new combined Wildlife Park and Raptor Domain are located at 3115 S Coast Rd, Seal Bay SA 5223, in the southern region of the island. The park is a 55-minute drive from Penneshaw and just 31 minutes from Kingscote.

“It’s all brand spanking new. Everything on the zoo side was started from scratch, everything is really nicely done. They had a guy who works with metal make a lot of rusty metal art, so it’s all really artistic, which I think is really nice.

“The new park isn’t as big in terms of floor plan, but we’ve got mostly the same animals, just now there’s not as much walking.”

The park houses a wide range of animals, from native species to exotic wildlife. It also offers plenty of hands-on experiences to get up close and personal with them.

“The encounters are pretty special. At Raptor Domain you can do private experiences where you can hold a wedge-tailed eagle at the end of the public shows. You can hold Koalas at the wildlife park, or snakes, or you can go in with the marmosets and servals, they do private encounters as well.

“People can get in the enclosures and you can have monkeys jumping all over you if you like. I think that’s the best way to see them, from inside.”

Kangaroo Island is renowned for its stunning natural beauty and wildlife.

“The beaches are beautiful, I know there’s a lot of beautiful beaches around Australia, but we have 162 beaches here in KI and they’re all stunning! There are not a lot of people compared to the east coast, but the wildlife has got to be the winner. We’ve got the densest population of wedge-tailed eagles anywhere in the world, so you’ll see eagles pretty much every day. Penguins, seals, sea lions, and echidnas. It’s a hotspot for all the iconic Aussie wildlife.”
