Kangaroo Island is launching its inaugural New Shoots Music Festival on Saturday 20th November with a star-studded lineup featuring Spiderbait, Killing Heidi, Angie McMahon, Ash Grunwald, Maddy Jane, Tilly Tjala Thomas and Rat Tamango.
The exciting venture is headed by the newly formed nonprofit committee East End Events, a body that was born from three CFS members in the midst of the recent bushfires, with profits from the event going straight back to the community of Kangaroo Island.
New Shoots will be the largest music event to take place on the island in more than a decade and the community is more than thrilled to play host. Committee chair Andy Gilfillan says,
“The opportunity to have a music festival on Kangaroo Island was born out of the fires the island suffered in 2020, hence the name ‘New Shoots’. We are a strong and proud bunch of people and we can’t wait to show you all the best festival experience on our beautiful island.”
New Shoots will have camping facilities a stones throw away from the grounds at Penneshaw Golf Club so punters can live out their sorely missed festival dreams. If camping isn’t your thing, Kangaroo Island flaunts a range of accommodation options, with a multitude of hidden gems to choose from.
The event is a fantastic opportunity for mainlanders to revisit the pristine beauty that is Kangaroo Island after tourism came to a halt over the last 18 months. New Shoots is spearheading a new era, one where visitors can come for the main event and stay and enjoy a thriving community full of intrigue and adventure!
