Kangaroo Island’s Hottest Event Is Coming

Kangaroo Island has to be the most under-appreciated bucket list classic that none of us ever get around to, but maybe all we need is a friendly, little push in the form of one amazing event.

Kangaroo Island has to be the most under-appreciated bucket list classic that a lot of us haven’t gotten around to. Well, not only should we all make the trip, but we’ve know the best time to visit.

It perfectly encapsulates everything that is great about South Australia — bright blue beaches, white sands, mouth-watering food, and friendly locals (both the human and kangaroo kind).

Maybe what you need is a friendly little push — how about one of the hottest yearly events for fashion, wine and food? The SeaLink Kangaroo Island Racing Carnival takes place on Saturday, 16 February and it’s an event glamorous enough to merit a weekend escape.

Maybe what you need is a friendly little push — how about one of the hottest yearly events for fashion, wine and food? The SeaLink Kangaroo Island Racing Carnival takes place on Saturday, 16 February and it’s an event glamorous enough to merit a weekend escape.

Aside from the main racing event, there’s plenty going on throughout the day for the whole family to enjoy!

We’re talking three pop-up bars where the PIMM’s, Pirate Life Beer and Dudley Wines sparkling will be flowing aplenty. We’re talking prizes offered for fashion on the fields (with the best dressed racegoer winning a Southern Ocean Lodge luxury escape). Best part, general admission is $20 and under 16’s get in free. Adelaide natives can purchase packages that take you straight from the CBD or Cape Jervis to the racecourse.

If this sounds like your thing, why not make it a mini holiday that will leave you bragging for ages? Spend a day or two at the races and then take some time to explore Kangaroo Island.

Are the races an excuse to visit Kangaroo Island? Or is the scenery an excuse to head to the races? Doesn’t matter. Have you seen Kangaroo Island? You’ll definitely need at least a weekend to make the most of all it has to offer.

You have to go surfing on the Little Sahara sandy sea, lie on the beach next to a friendly seal, wander through the shade of the Remarkable Rocks, indulge in freshly caught seafood, and walk amongst the kangaroos at dusk.
