Kangaroo Island’s New Wilderness Trail Packages Give You Hiking By Day & Comfort At Night

SeaLink South Australia has launched Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail packages which allows travellers to explore the 61 kilometre trail, minus the camping.

If you don’t consider yourself the camping type, but still enjoy getting out into the wilderness with the comfort of an actual bed and roof over your head – there’s a new package available that could be just for you.

SeaLink South Australia has launched Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail packages which allows travellers to walk all, or parts of the 61 kilometre trail by day and by night, all while having access to hot showers, delectable breakfasts, packed picnic lunches and dinners, and to top the day off, you’ll be able to hop into a cozy bed at KI Wilderness Retreat.

You also don’t have to worry about having to walk back to where you left off every morning – you’ll be transferred to the trail to continue on your merry way.

The three to five day packages gives you access to the Wilderness Trail, located in the south-west of the island – said to be “the most rugged, remote and spectacular coastline, but encounters some of the island’s unique wildlife”. So naturally, plenty of Instagram ops.

If that doesn’t make you want to get up ‘n’ out, highlights include opportunities to see; platypus waterholes, bottlenose dolphins year-round and Southern Right Whales between June and early October, remnants of shipwrecks, historic sites such as Weirs Cove, Cape du Couedic Lighthouse, Admirals Arch and Remarkable Rocks. Better make some space on your phone, these will make for some spectacular shots you’ll be wanting to show the kids/future kids.

And if THAT still doesn’t do it for you, you’ll be immersed in a diversity of habitats, from woodlands to freshwater lakes, and even cave systems. It doesn’t get much better than that.

Now, you’re probably wondering how you’re going to get to, from and around Kangaroo Island, well luckily the packages include return SeaLink Ferry transfers with a standard size vehicle from Cape Jervis, so you’re sorted for the picturesque drive down south.
