Karkoo Nursery extends Blackwood lease

This development comes after the local council discussed selling the Blackwood site to redevelop it as part of a $12 million initiative for the area.

Plant lovers, get your green thumbs ready: Karkoo Nursery is staying in Blackwood for another year.

This development comes after the local council discussed selling the Blackwood site to redevelop it as part of a $12 million initiative for the area, a consideration that upset many Karkoo regulars.

“We are thrilled to announce that the Mitcham Council has offered us another year at our Blackwood location, so we will definitely be there until the end of 2022,” the nursery announced.

“Although it’s only a small extension, we are so happy to remain in Blackwood for as long as we possibly can!”

This announcement means the much-loved nursery will have two locations until 2022, after opening their second site in Oakbank in preparation for their Blackwood location’s closing. The Oakbank spot, which has been open since the beginning of May, is located in the historic Johnston Brewery in the heart of the Adelaide Hills and even has a café on site.

Karkoo Nursery sells adorable plants, pots, and succulents, but they’re also known as a community hub in Blackwood that regularly hosts live music and art, particularly during the Adelaide Fringe. They also host events, previously throwing functions and even weddings in the adorable plant shop.

Keep up with Karkoo’s offerings on their Facebook.

Find Karkoo at 207 Main Road, Blackwood, and in Oakbank at 18 Oakwood Rd.
