The Curious Squire has an action packed July calendar, with events to celebrate the American 4th of July holiday and Adelaide’s inaugural Beer and BBQ Festival in the coming weeks.

As Adelaide’s home of James Squire and authentic Southern American Bar-B-Q, Head Chef Drew Akin and his team at The Curious Squire thought it would be fitting to share the American patriotic spirit this 4th of July.

Brew Bar and Restaurant Owner Antony Tropeano says, “We’re excited to be celebrating the 4th of July in Adelaide as it unites different cultures together over great food, great beer and great company.

“It’s important to celebrate our roots – it’s what has influenced our restaurant from our authentic premium Yoder Smoker, to our ethos of sharing great Southern American soul and cajun food between friends and family,” says Mr. Tropeano.

With beer specials to compliment their mouthwatering menu of Southern American flavours, celebrations are extending through the weekend from 3rd – 5th July. Enjoy pints of the popular James Squire Hop Thief American Pale Ale available for $5 all weekend.

In true patriotism, Head Chef and ‘Pit Master’ Drew Akin is also a talented musician, whose ventures saw him tour the South East United States.

“Drew will be providing live entertainment on Sunday evening, singing from 6pm – 9pm to bring the 4th of July weekend home.

“This adds an authentic atmosphere to The Curious Squire, and Drew certainly knows how to entertain a crowd,” says Mr. Tropeano.

Adelaide’s début Beer and BBQ Festival is set to transform the historic Brick Cattle Pavilion and lawns at the Adelaide Showground into its own backyard, over three days from July 10th – 12th.

Showcasing The Curious Squire’s Southern American Bar-B-Q’s finest, Drew Akin will be smoking up a storm with ‘The Ghetto Smoke Show’ at which patrons can sample dishes from its American roots in a pop-up style festival.

Born in the heart of Dixieland, Alabama, Akin was ‘baptised in BBQ sauce and raised in the smoke,’ which is what you can expect from The Curious Squire’s Bar-B-Q offerings.

“It’s great to get Squires involved in such an exciting, new festival with so many likeminded restaurants, chefs, brewers and foodies,” says Mr. Tropeano.

The festival menu will host dishes such as the Smoked Hot Links, with spicy sausage, pimento cheese dip and crackers, The Whole Dog, with smoked pork on white bread, Drew’s signature Bar-B-Q sauce, candied jalapeno, pickles and coleslaw, or the Grits and Greens with smoked pork, cheese grits, collard greens, fried onion straws, Drew’s signature Bar-B-Q sauce and tabasco.
