One of Kensington’s popular eateries, High Street Cafe, has scooped up the bronze gong for the Best Coffee Shop in Australia.
The National 2022 Restaurant & Catering HOSTPLUS National Awards for Excellence was held at Gambaro Hotel in Brisbane recently, celebrating the achievements of Australia’s finest hospitality businesses.
Businesses across the restaurant, café and catering sector who had previously won Awards in their respective categories at a state and territory level were formally recognised at the event.
High Street Cafe opened late 2020 in the leafy eastern suburbs of Adelaide. It was a space created to welcome social interaction and encourage a sense of community and belonging during Covid-19. The cafe has proven itself to be a mainstay in the East.
Owner Mick Beech and the team are passionate about creating the perfect cup of coffee, and so they use only the finest locally roasted coffee beans.
Restaurant & Catering (R&CA) President Mike Palmer congratulated the High Street Cafe on behalf of the Association and thanked them for their participation in this year’s Awards.
These awards highlight the very best of the best from around Australia and celebrate the amazing achievements of our fantastic hospitality scene”, Mr Palmer said.

Beech said it was fantastic to be recognised by their peers in the hospitality industry as the best that Australia has to offer.
“Considering we are only just 2 years old it’s a real credit to our hard working staff and our lovely customers who come in each day and support the cafe.”
