KI’s New Shoots Music Festival announces a fresh line up

After rescheduling its original date, New Shoots Music Festival has announced a refreshed line up as it brings a well-deserved dose of live tunes to Kangaroo Island.

A long-awaited music festival is coming to KI and we cannot wait to groove (if allowed) about it!

After rescheduling its original date, New Shoots Music Festival has announced a refreshed line up as it brings a well-deserved dose of live tunes to Kangaroo Island.

The festival was set to hit SA in November last year, but was forced to postpone the event due to COVID-19 restrictions.

On its new date on April 2, 2022, the new line-up is worth the wait.

The inaugural New Shoots Music Festival which will be held at Penneshaw Oval is bringing some of the best local and interstate artists and bands to host an ultimate party on the island.

The new line up is led by acclaimed Melbourne trio Something For Kate, Iconic Aussie rockers Jebediah and South Australia’s own Bad//Dreems.

They join the already announced line up of Ash Grunwald, Maddy Jane, Tilly Tjala Thomas, Rat Tamango, and Kangaroo Island locals, Charlotte Gilfillan and Sam Kempster.

New Shoots will be the largest music event to take place on the island in more than a decade. East End Events Committee chair Andy Gilfillan said the community is more than thrilled to play host, even after a bit of a delayed start.

“To say that KI has had its challenges in the last two years is a massive understatement,” he said.

The landscape is now different physically and emotionally, it would be a bold statement to say the worst is behind us but it is definitely time to loosen the shackles.

“New Shoots Music Festival intends to deliver a new annual music event utilising and empowering the local community as much as possible from KI based catering and beverage suppliers, transport and trades, and local staffing, plus a farmers market will be held on the same weekend to promote local produce.

“It will provide a significant visitation boost and help extend the tourism season.”

New Shoots Music Festival was developed with the spirit of supporting local. To keep this going, event organisers will be donating a portion of all ticket and merchandise sales to key charities, BlazeAid and Breakthrough Foundation, who continue to be an incredible support to those affected by the Kangaroo Island fires.

New Shoots is a fully vaccinated event and offers camping facilities a stone’s throw away from the grounds at Penneshaw Golf Club so punters can live out their sorely missed festival dreams.

If camping isn’t your thing, Kangaroo Island flaunts a range of accommodation options, with a multitude of hidden gems to choose from.

Festival tickets are from $100, while camping tickets are from $40.

SeaLink ferries are offering $50 return ticket for every New Shoot ticket holder.

New Shoots Music Festival will take place on Saturday April 2, 2022 at Penneshaw Oval, Kangaroo Island.
