La Adelita Mexican Cantina Moves To Bigger Location With 180-Degree Ocean Views

Mexican fave, La Adelita, has moved on to bigger and better things — in location and menu!

What goes better with Mexican than a salty sea breeze and glittering, blue ocean views (aside from a glass of sangria, of course)?

After a stint out on the West Lakes lakefront, La Adelita Mexican Cantina has moved into Semaphore and now boasts an enviable 180-degree view of the ocean.

The new La Adelita Mexican Cantina boasts over double the seating space than its previous storefront, jumping from a 60-seater to a now 80 indoor, 80 outdoor seater!

Chef and owner, Namit Mangal, is really happy to be back in Semaphore, as he was part of the Viva Zapata’s team, before launching La Adelita in West Lakes.

Mangal and his team have given the restaurant a slight facelift, brightening the walls with some mural art, but keeping things similar for the most part — since the previous tenant was also a Mexican restaurant.

The menu has also received a revamp, with Mangal jumping on board the share platter bandwagon and incorporating more Mexican style grill dishes.

Share platters are up for $25 per head and your table will get two! The first features nachos, elotes, jalapeño poppers, and smoked chicken wings, while the next platter brings out smoked brisket and a pulled pork burrito bowl.

And, yes, there are vegetarian and vegan options to suit! Most of the inclusions are vegan-ified (you’ll get vegan nachos), but these platters also include empanadas and a tofu/mushroom mix burrito bowl and roast veggie tacos.

Mangal also tells us about the fan favourite, Mexican Donkey! This is one for the whole table — where the chef keeps on sending out food until you say stop. The challenge is seeing who can eat the most… (but make sure you can finish your food, because there are no donkey/doggie bags!).

You’ll also find a tasty selection of Mexcian grill that comes out will tortillas and Mexican slaw, plus your choice of many different proteins — chicken, pork, SA prawns, you name it, that have all been marinaded Mexican style.

Of course, La Adelita is still serving up the classics. Chimichangas, enchiladas, burritos — you’ll find them all here.

And don’t forget the drinks! Make sure you grab yourself a refreshing sangria or margarita. It’s not a real Mexican feast until you have!

La Adelita also has three express locations in Elizabeth Shopping Centre, Rundle Mall, and West Lakes Shopping Centre, so you can get your Mex-fix any time you need it.

But there’s only one restaurant! And you’ll find it at 6 Semaphore Road, Semaphore 5019.

La Adelaide is open for dinner Tuesday to Sunday from 5pm to late and is also open for lunch on Saturday & Sunday from 12pm to 3pm.
