It has been one of the toughest vintages on record, but Langhorne Creek’s winemakers still have plenty of reason to celebrate, and we want Adelaide to join in at the Langhorne Creek Winemakers’ Showcase Tasting!
On Sunday May 16, The Langhorne Creek Winemakers’ Association will open its doors for the public to take the largest collection of Langhorne Creek wines assembled in one place. Up to 100 of the region’s best drops, as judged by an esteemed judging panel, will be arranged in the Langhorne Creek Memorial Hall to celebrate the culmination of Vintage 2010.
On the third Sunday in May this year the Langhorne Creek Winemakers’ Association will be holding its Wine Showcase at the Langhorne Creek Memorial Hall. The Showcase is open to any commercial winemaker who has produced wine from Langhorne Creek grapes (85% or greater). The Flight Centre are proud sponsors of the 2010 Winemakers’ Showcase.
An independent panel of judges is given the task of tasting all entries in mid April, selecting the top wine in each class and the champion wine of the Showcase. A regional selection six-pack is also chosen and available for sale at the Wine Showcase on 16 May 2010. This year’s judging panel is led by Mike Farmilo from Boars Rock Winery, with Nick Ryan (Wine Writer), Jeremy Stockman (Category Manager – Wine for Vintage Cellars) and a yet to be named Associate Judge from within the Langhorne Creek wine industry.
The Winemakers’ Showcase is open to the general public from 11am on Sunday , May 16 at the Langhorne Creek Memorial Hall. Entry is $15 per person which includes a complementary Langhorne Creek wine glass. Local winemakers and grape growers will be available to answer questions about the region and the wines. This exceptional line up of up to 100 wines will highlight the fantastic quality and diversity of the Langhorne Creek region.
Food is available at the hall, at the Bridge Hotel across the road, and at local cellar doors.
