If you’ve ever wanted to eat and drink and feel super good about doing it, now’s your chance. This Friday, Food Tours Australia in conjunction with Cancer Council SA will be hosting their final ‘Girls Night In (the Central Markets)’ event.
We don’t normally need an excuse to get together with the girls, but if you are looking for one, then this is a cracker. Twenty-five percent of the ticket price goes straight to Cancer Council SA towards prevention, support and education programmes to help beat cancer. How awesome is that!
In a small group, hosted by a knowledgeable & passionate guide, you will wander through the Central Market taking in all the sights, sounds, smells and of course tastes of Adelaide’s famous fresh food hall.
We went last Friday night and had a fabulous time meeting stall holders and being treated to delicious, and interesting, delights from a number of different outlets. It started in the best way possible, with a glass of SA bubbles. What followed after that were delicious charcuterie platters and cheese tastings, healthy food that tasted oh so decadent (yes, it really was healthy and tasty) and having a chance to try some of the more unusual market items. But don’t let me spoil the fun on that one, you will just have to take the tour and find out for yourself these treasures of the Market. What I can say is that it was definitely a tour for all the senses.
Sound good? Well get your besties together now, and head to Eventbrite to snap up your tickets for this Friday night before they all sell out. Numbers are limited, so you really do have to be quick.
Ok, so you would love to help out Cancer Council SA, but you can’t make this Friday – don’t fret. This Market initiative with Cancer Council SA will be back with a new ongoing tour that Food Tours Australia are set to release early next year.
The new tour is actually being developed by a Flinders University Dietetics student in conjunction with the Cancer Council SA as an interactive activity to promote healthy food choices. It will follow Australian Dietary Guidelines and Cancer Council recommendations for healthy eating to reduce cancer risk It’s aim will be to educate participants as they tour the iconic Adelaide Central Market giving recipe & menu suggestions, information regarding maintaining a healthy body weight and eating healthily and of course give plenty of those delicious tastings that are in line with the recommendations. As with the ‘Girls Night In’ tour, this tour will also be a fundraiser, with part-proceeds being donated to Cancer Council SA. Such an amazing initiative and one we are sure will be a success.
