Stylish Hutt Street bar Latteria is hosting a massive cocktail event over the weekend, featuring 20 of the hottest bars around Adelaide. The party is celebrating the drink of the moment on Sunday 21 September, before ‘Negroni Week’ officially kicks off on Monday.
From 5pm, as the sun looms low in the sky, the bar will host celebrated bartenders from around the city to serve their own signature take on the cocktail that brings a blend of bitter, sweet, and botanical.

Here’s how the evening will run: As people settle into the cosy interior, Negronis from two bars at a time will be served for half an hour. Once the thirty minutes are up, the bars will pass the baton, and two new recipes will be on offer. And repeat.
The guest bar line-up includes some of the heavy-hitters of Adelaide’s late night scene. Here’s who will be there: 1910, Africola, Ambra, Bank Street Social, Bar Peripheral, BarBar, Brkln, Burdette, Chianti Ristorante & Bar, Hains & Co., Honeydripper, Kiin, Maybe Mae, Nearly A Bar, NOLA, Osteria Oggi, Pink Moon, Proof, Smoke Lovers, Tarantinos, and Trap.
Every Negroni sold on the night will see $1 donated to Hutt Street Centre, an SA not-for-profit supporting people experiencing homelessness. The bartenders are all volunteering their time on the night, with sponsorship from Campari, Paramount Liquor, and Pillar Ice, alongside support from the global Negroni Week initiative.

Since opening in 2024, Latteria has captured the attention of Adelaide’s nightlife, particularly if you’re looking for Euro-inspired cocktails and Italian aperitifs.
The Negroni itself has a legendary backstory, although there is some mystery surrounding the story. Count Camillo Negroni is credited with inventing the cocktail in Florence, Italy in the early 1900s. He asked bartender Fosco Scarselli at Caffe Casoni to make a stronger version of his favourite cocktail, the Americano. Scarselli, after some pondering, swapped the soda with gin, and traded a twist of lemon for the now famous orange peel. The result became an instant classic, with a glass of equal parts gin, sweet vermouth, and Campari dubbed the Negroni.
Negroni Week began more than a decade ago in New Orleans, where bartenders came together to raise funds for their local community following Hurricane Katrina. It has since grown into a global initiative, with thousands of bars worldwide reimagining the classic Negroni for charity.
Luca, owner of Latteria, said, “We’re proud to host the party at Latteria with Campari, but it’s really about the bartenders, the community, and supporting Hutt Street Centre. It’s the kind of event that reminds you why Adelaide’s bar scene is so special.”
September at Latteria will also feature a rotating menu of creative Negroni variations and a $20 Negroni and Pizzetta aperitivo special from 4-6pm. For every Negroni sold during the month, $1 will be donated to Hutt Street Centre.

Get on down this Sunday to celebrate all things Negroni and sip away in the venue’s perfectly matched ambience.
