He’s already an icon of the Adelaide Fringe, now international cabaret star Le Gateau Chocolat returns to the festival to pay tribute to some of his own heroes with the world premiere of new work ICONS.
Walking the tightrope between his public persona and private self, perennial Fringe favourite Le Gateau explores relationships with our icons – the people, moments and relationships that have come to shape us, or the ideal we aspire to – through song and storytelling.
How do those in the spotlight become icons? How does one become representative of something bigger than oneself? By exploring his life as a cabaret artist and drag diva, balanced with his own incredible personal story, Le Gateau explores the intoxicating duality of what it means to be an icon.
Expect an outrageously eclectic mix of music from pop to opera, from Kate Bush to Elvis, Madonna to Meatloaf and Whitney to Pavarotti as Le Gateau explores his own objects of worship through the songs and music of his personal icons.
