Learn About Food Safety in Victoria Square

Visit Adelaide City Council’s ‘Food Safety’ stall in Victoria Square on Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 November as part of national Food Safety Week 2012.

Sean McNamara, Program Manager of Safer City at Adelaide City Council said the stall provides a great opportunity for the public to speak to experts about any food safety queries they may have.

“This year’s theme is ‘Cross Contamination,’ with a focus on hand washing, cleaning of cooking utensils, storage and separation of raw and cooked foods,” Sean said.

“It’s important that people are aware of risks of cross contamination and know what they can do to prepare, store and transport their food safely to avoid potential foodborne illnesses”.

“Environmental Health Officers will be on hand to provide information and advice about how to keep food safe and also hand out giveaways.”

The information stall will be held in the interactive hub in Victoria Square as part of Council’s Open Week.

As well as Food Safety, Council staff will be on hand to demonstrate how the community helped create Council’s vision for the city and to chat about upcoming projects, services and the city in general.

The hub will be open to the public between 11am – 4pm on Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th November 2012 and will showcase some of the city’s big initiatives including the Victoria Square and the Rundle Mall Redevelopment projects.
