WHAT YOU SHOULD DO

For updates visit the CFS website (www.cfs.sa.gov.au) or phone the Information Hotline on 1800 362 361.

The Country Fire Service (CFS) has advised that homes built to withstand bushfires and that are prepared to the highest level may offer some safety. However, residents should be aware of the potential loss of power, water, and communications, including phone and data connections.

In response to the escalating threat, fire crews are actively responding to the situation. However, the CFS has stated that residents should not expect a firefighter to personally attend to every home. The focus is on controlling the fire and preventing it from spreading further into populated areas.

Residents who are planning to leave must do so immediately. It is critical to ensure that all paths of egress are clear and that family or friends are informed about evacuation plans. Roads may become blocked, and smoke can severely reduce visibility, which could complicate evacuation efforts. Residents are also advised to secure their pets for travel and take protective measures to shield themselves from the intense heat of the fire. If trapped in a car, it is safer to park away from bush areas, cover up, and lie on the floor to avoid window breakage from the fire’s heat.
