Revered singer songwriter siblings Katie and Tyrone Noonan will visit The Gov in October as a part of their legendary Australian tour.
The Polyserena 20th Anniversary Celebration will showcase the extraordinary talents of Katie and Tyrone Noonan and band – Brandon Mamata on guitar, Steele Chabau on bass, with Katie’s son Dexter Hurren on drums.
The tour commenced in Newcastle earlier this month and will make its way to Adelaide on October 1.
With tickets for their shows across the states swiftly snapped up, Katie and Tyrone Noonan have added a second date in some states as they celebrate the 20th Anniversary of legendary george album Polyserena live this September and October.
Polyserena is a beloved Australian classic. Debuting at #1 on the ARIA charts in 2002, the album launched George onto the national stage, earning them six ARIA nominations that year ‘Album Of The Year’, ‘Best Group’, ‘Best Cover Art’, ‘Producer of the Year’, ‘Best Pop Release’ and winning them the award for ‘Breakthrough Artist – Album’.
Katie Noonan said it was great to be back to making music with her brother Tyrone and son Dexter.
“Our band started in the lounge room of my uni share house in early 1996 in Brisbane with 2 sets of siblings jamming together. My bro had just returned from living in Europe and I had just started uni. I was 18 – so only a little older than Dexter is now.
“26 years later to be celebrating our debut album with my 17 year old son and 2 wonderful young musicians – Brandon Mamata on guitars and Steele Chabau on bass, feels like a wonderful full circle moment with multiple generations sharing music together (we have the 10’s, 20’s, 30’s 40’s and 50’s covered!).”
They became only the tenth Australian band in history to debut at number one upon release; Polyserena achieved gold status within ten days, platinum record status within three weeks and had reached double platinum by the end of 2002.
