Gilbert Street’s newest café, Leisurely Coffee, is 100% halal and vegan friendly

Gilbert Street has welcomed a brand new vegan and halal friendly cafe, Leisurely Coffee, where you can expect some fantastic food offerings.

Gilbert Street has a new café popping up in the former Paddy’s Lantern site.

Owned and run by Ibrahim Yu (from Devour Café), Leisurely Coffee is 100% halal and vegan friendly.

The café has been in the works for the last few months and we are excited to announce that it is officially open.

Enjoy a cappuccino under their gorgeous six-metre high sunroof and fulfil those mid-morning hunger cravings with some tasty looking snacks.

With coffee in its name, the café certainly have an epic array of coffee options for you to choose from.

We’re keen to try to the raspberry candy coffee that’s meant to be super creamy and deliciously sweet with tasty berry notes.

For the serious coffee fanatics out there, the café also offers coffee refills, which means you can sip on coffee for the whole day.

Menu highlights include mushroom bao buns with soy-braised mushroom, pickled carrot and apple slaw; fried soft shell crab in a toasted croissant with scrambled eggs, chilli aioli, green apple and papaya salad; and coconut chia pudding with goji berries, fresh mango, lychee, burnt butter and hazelnut crumble.

If you’re after something smaller, there are delicious homemade chicken or mushroom dumplings, mac and cheese spring rolls and truffle fries.

At this stage Leisurely Coffee is open for walk-ins only.

The fit-out of Leisurely Coffee has been done by the creative minds at Soko Design Studio.

Leisurely Coffee is open Monday to Saturday 7am ’til 3pm, with their kitchen closing at 2pm.
