As the June long weekend fast approaches, Prohibition Liquor Co. is gearing up to commemorate World Gin Day with a lineup of exciting events that will tantalise the taste buds of gin enthusiasts. From masterclasses to cocktail-making classes, there’s something for everyone at Prohibition this weekend.
The festivities will kick off with a World Gin Day Eve Masterclass on Friday, June 9th, designed to set the mood for the main event. Participants will have the opportunity to sample six of Prohibition’s renowned gins, including a few spirits never before released to the public.
The masterclass promises to be an immersive experience, with the knowledgeable Prohibition team sharing their passion for the craft spirits industry.
On World Gin Day itself, Saturday June 10th, Prohibition will host three Masterclasses in collaboration with esteemed distilleries from across Australia. These sessions will showcase the best gins the country has to offer.
Participants will gain insights into the intricate distillation process while enjoying a curated gin tasting paired with tonic and garnishes. To enhance the experience further, Prohibition will treat attendees to their signature gourmet toasties or an exquisite antipasto platter.
Throughout the day, Prohibition will partner with Earp Distilling Co., South Australian City Distilleries, and Wolf Lane Distillery to offer unique masterclasses, each featuring a distinctive range of gins. Strictly limited to 40 people per session, these masterclasses are priced between $40 and $59.
For those who prefer a hands-on experience, Prohibition’s Next Door Bar invites guests to a special Cocktail Class led by the Next Door and Prohibition teams. Participants will learn about Prohibition-era cocktails, their history, and how they came to be.
Under the guidance of skilled gin connoisseurs, attendees will craft two signature Prohibition cocktails while indulging in delectable nibbles and an antipasto platter. The 2-hour cocktail-making session, limited to 20 people, will be an unforgettable journey into the world of mixology, priced at $65.
Additionally, both Prohibition’s tasting room and Next Door cocktail bar will be open for tastings throughout the day, featuring a wide selection of gins from around the world. The gin library at Prohibition will showcase exclusive imports from the United States, France, London, and other renowned gin destinations. Special gin and tonic offers will be available all day, ranging from $10 to $12 each.
Prohibition’s presence extends beyond their own venues, as their Head Distiller Hugh Lumsden will host a guided tasting at The Howling Owl as part of Gin City Limits. Moreover, Prohibition’s Brand Ambassadors Davide and Matt Foz will be found behind the bar, serving up exquisite gins and cocktails at Mr Goodbar in Adelaide and Dulcie’s in Sydney, respectively.
Since its inception in 2015, Prohibition Liquor Co. has consistently made waves in the industry, earning accolades from prestigious competitions worldwide. Their gold medal wins at the Tokyo Whisky & Spirits Competition, BTI Spirits Competition, IWSC, and the World Drinks Awards have solidified Prohibition’s position on the global craft spirits stage.
