Life-saving free health checks available at all Gather Round locations

The State Government is offering free health check for anyone sixteen and over to spread awareness on cardiovascular disease.

The State Government has partnered with Shane Warne Legacy, SiSU Health and Flinders University to offer free Health Checks during Gather Round for anyone sixteen and over.

The health checks will be available at the SiSU Health Station located near the entrance of each location and are aimed at helping people better understand and reduce their risk of heart disease or diabetes.

The scale of the sporting event – amassing tens of thousands – helps the organisers reach many different groups of people.

Last year, over 9,000 people took the opportunity to get free heart health and diabetes checks at the Gather Round.

The health check only takes about 4 minutes to complete and people will then be able to view their results immediately from the SiSU Health mobile app.

Attendees will be able to get free access to screenings for vital cardiovascular and metabolic health components, including blood pressure, heart rate, heart age, BMI, diabetes risk, blood sugar and cholesterol and triglycerides.

Another reason the Shane Warne legacy health checks are at the Gather Round is because the late great Shane Warne was a massive supporter of the AFL.

Aaron Hamill, the director and ambassador of Shane Warne Legacy said, ”He would be deeply honored to be part of such an important initiative especially in a way that continues to make a real difference.”

He then added, ”For me personally, the most meaningful moments come from the success stories. When our free Shane Warne Legacy Health Checks have not only raised awareness but have saved lives, helping people take control of their own health journey.

Cardiovascular disease can impact anyone. High blood pressure has no symptoms and it is easy to think that you are fine even when you’re not. The statistics on cardiovascular disease in Australia are dire.

Helen Nolan the CEO of the Shane Warne Legacy explained, ”Heart attack can really affect anybody so I think it is better not to deny it. Prevention is always better than cure.”

She then later added ”1 Australian adult dies every 12 minutes from cardiovascular disease. In South Australia alone, 1 of every 10 deaths is from a heart attack.”

Noel Duncan, the founder and managing director of SiSU health says, “Based on our data and research, we’ve seen incredible results. 70 percent of people who underwent the health check were motivated to improve their health, with over 50 percent taking tangible action.”

We encourage all attendees to take a few moments out of their day to complete the Shane
Warne Legacy Health Check. It’s a very simple step that can lead to life-saving outcomes.
