Line-Up Announced For Spin Off Festival

of-monsters-and-menThe line-up for Spin Off Festival 2013 has been announced and this is your chance to catch some of the best acts from Splendour In The Grass, right here in Adelaide.

The festival was a huge success last year and in 2013 the stars have aligned once more and Adelaide has another awesome pool of acts to choose from – it’s little wonder that Splendour sold out in minutes!

Spin Off will be the only place outside of Byron Bay where you can see all these amazing acts under the one roof. Welcome to Spin Off 2013!

Of Monsters And Men
The icelandic kids behind the monster hit “Little Talks” are returning to Adelaide. The first single lifted from their debut album “My Head Is An Animal” was an unprecedented smash both in their homeland (where it hit no, 1 in the charts) and right here in Australia (where it peaked in the Aria top 10 and finished runner-up in Triple J’s hottest 100). Following a short australian tour earlier this year as part of the Laneway Festival, the indie darlings are returning to headline Spin Off 2013.

Passion Pit
If pure, blissful happiness could be bottled, drunk by talented musicians and channelled through their instruments, the result would sound like the songs featured on Passion Pit’s two albums “Manners” and “Gossamer”. Their winning recipe of fuzzy synths, looping samples and head-rush rhythms has won the new york outfit countless fans since bursting onto the scene in 2009. Songs like “sleepyhead”, “little secrets” and “take a walk” are sure to go down as electro pop classics and passion pit are sure to go down a treat this year at spin off.

Snakadaktal
Ever since taking out Triple J’s unearthed high competition in 2011, Snakadaktal have been an unstoppable force in Australian music. Their debut self-titled ep exhibited some of the most refined and mature sounds to come from a band still in their teens, perhaps ever. Their singles “air”, “chimera” and “dance bear” ooze with an emotive charm and with a debut album from the Melbourne teenagers slated for release later this year, Snakadaktal loom as a force to be reckoned with at Spin Off 2013.

Chet Faker
If you havent yet experienced the ear melting, intimate sounds of Chet Faker then here’s your chance. Hailing from Melbourne, the 23-year-old instantly came to everyone’s attention when his cover of “No Diggity” by Blackstreet hit no. 1 on the worldwide indie music aggregator, hype machine. His soulful debut ep “Thinking In Textures” won him a bunch of air awards last year and Rolling Stone named it best independent release’of 2012. He hits the road at the end of April, which will eventually lead him to Spin Off this August.

FIDLAR
F*** it dog, lifes a risk. Their name alone should tell you this band means business! Bashing out hyper reckless garage chants about loose parties, crappy goon and cheap drugs, FIDLAR are a wholesome bunch. Forming in la in 2009, their songs have titles like “wake bake skate”, “cheap beer”, “max cant surf” and “no waves no ass”. The band is leaving a trail of mayhem and destruction as they tour the us with Wavves and are set to go large when they hit Australian shores for the very first time this July. Prepare yourselves for FIDLAR. Play hard or get out!

The Jungle Giants
These home-grown indie pop stars are set to bring boundless energy to the Spin Off stage in 2013. Their self-titled, self-released debut ep may have come from humble beginnings but it stood out as a diamond in the rough. A year later the Brisbane four-piece proudly introduced their second ep. “She’s A Riot” to rave reviews and took off on a bunch of tours with famous friends like Two Door Cinema Club, the vaccines and 2012 Spin Off alumni Last Dinosaurs. Another band that”s expected to release a debut album soon, see the giants at Spin Off for a taste of their new tunes! Click here to listen to “you’ve got something”.

Dune Rats
Having absolutely killed it for the past year and a half, dune rats are on a high of the uncharacteristically legal variety. Since the release of their debut ep “Social Atoms” in 2011, the Brisbane stoner pop duo have maintained a prolific radio presence, with tracks like “pogo”, “f*** it” and “red light green light” all earning high rotation around the country. They’ve been no strangers to the live arena either, playing all over Australia and the US, and this year they head to South Africa, China and South East Asia before setting sail for Spin Off 2013.

Spin Off Festival takes place at Thebarton Theatre on Friday August 2, 2013.
