LIV Golf Adelaide is scheduled to return to the iconic Grange Golf Club from February 14-16, 2025 to enrich South Australia’s already vibrant festival season.
Following the 25th anniversary of the Santos Tour Down Under and preceding festivals such as Adelaide Fring, Adelaide Festival, and WOMADelaide, LIV Golf Adelaide – announced by the Premier of South Australia, Peter Malinauskas – is expected to draw considerable attention and attendance.
The high-profile event was recently named the World’s Best Golf Event at the World Golf Awards, adding significant prestige to its upcoming iteration.
Premier Malinauskas commented on the scheduling, saying, “Summer in South Australia is about to get a whole lot louder. The new timeslot will see LIV Golf Adelaide follow the highly anticipated 25th anniversary of our Santos Tour Down Under and lead us perfectly into our world-renowned festival season.”
The 2024 edition of LIV Golf Adelaide infused $71.1 million into the local economy, a 10% increase over the previous year, according to an independent economic analysis by Vision Insights. Attendance at the 2024 event surpassed 94,000 over three days, marking a 22% increase compared with the previous year. Another significant contributor to the local economy was the spike in hotel occupancy which was reflected in an average nightly revenue of $2.8 million and an average occupancy rate of 86% across metropolitan Adelaide during the event.
The tournament has not only boosted local tourism and hospitality sectors but also positioned Adelaide as an elite international sporting destination. It was reported that 97% of attendees travelled to Adelaide specifically for the event, with 41% coming from outside South Australia.
LIV Golf’s global reach last year was also substantial, with the event being broadcast to more than 500 million households across 80 territories.
The Premier added that LIV Golf Adelaide continues “to cement our state’s reputation as the best place in the nation to host blockbuster events.”
LIV Golf Commissioner and CEO, Greg Norman, also shared his satisfaction with the event’s success in Adelaide over the past years.
“As an Aussie, I’m proud of how South Australia has embraced LIV Golf to make it one of the top sporting events in the country,” he stated.
Norman emphasized the unique blend of world-class team competition, entertainment, and culture that the tournament offered, which he claimed had been the highlight of their calendar for players and fans alike.
