With the Adelaide Fringe in full swing, The GC “Grand Central”, located in the beloved Arts Theatre, returns, providing a specially curated program of musical entertainment for Fringe-goers.
From March 5th to 10th, The GC promises a spectacular array of musical entertainment, transforming the Arts Theatre into a CBD Fringe performance hub that thrums with the soulful sounds of legends and the heartfelt tributes of extraordinary musicians.
Presenting fourteen performances of thirteen different shows, the GC’s season kicks off with a soul-stirring tribute to musical legends Aretha Franklin, Tina Turner, and Ray Charles in the show “Love Soul Deep”. Audience members are encouraged to participate as this sizzling band dives into the rhythm, melody and heart of the music that laid the foundation for blues, soul, jazz, and contemporary genres.
The GC’s lineup boasts a variety of tributes, each with a unique flavour—from the gritty and heartfelt renditions of Joe Cocker’s hits by the 9-piece Boogiemen to the West Coast melodies of the 70s in “The Laurel Canyon Story” and the electric energy of The Who in “The Whom – The Kids are Alright”, there is something for every music fan.
Nostalgia is richly served with the return of “Cat, Neil & Captain Fantastic”, “The Bald Eagles”, and the polished melodies of Simon and Garfunkel in “Feelin’ Groovy”. Not to be missed is the Australian premiere of “Sweet Soul Music” by the incomparable Movin’ Melvin Brown, who brings the life and tunes of Sam Cooke to the stage—confirming Melvin’s status as a world-class entertainer.
Since its beginning as a Fringe venue in 2016, The GC “Grand Central” has become a proud supporter of quality live music and is perfect for those who appreciate the finer aspects of Fringe.
With a premium sound system, full theatrical lighting, and a 490-seat auditorium designed to deliver an intimate yet grand concert experience, it caters to the varied tastes of a mature audience, offering a comfortable, concert-like experience distinct from the pop-up Parkland venues.
